RUF creates its cars using Porsche body frameworks that are not licensed.

The company is a family run business that has been active since 1939.

Of the many things that separate RUF from other car manufacturers, is the exclusivity of ownership. They produce their car parts, design and manufacture a new car all by themselves, by hand. They find the materials necessary for creating the parts they need, produce them and set them away as stock. When they’ve used up all the stock, they again create the parts by themselves. Everything they do is meticulously designed and created how they want it to be.

These cars are released in a batch of not more than 30 pieces each year. And it’s not uncommon to find them sold out within the first month of their release. RUF cars are considered some of the fastest, powerful and exciting cars ever. After the release of the RUF CTR model in 1987 surpassed the speed of brands such as Porsche and Lamborghini, RUF has maintained a name for itself in the luxury car space.

They’re one of the most expensive cars with ownership going for more than $750,000 per piece in some models.

Among other activities RUF does, is to service and repair cars. They predominantly deal with Porsche and RUF cars, thereby, the service only extends to just as much. Since RUF originally started as a car repair garage, it seems they’ve stuck with the core values that built the company. Even though now they’re a fully-fledged car manufacturing company.

Some Porsche clients find they’d like to change their car model to RUF. These clients find a trip to RUF fulfilling as the company also converts the Porsches to RUF cars.

Besides, they restore old and classic Porsche and RUF cars to a new perfection. Car enthusiasts who’d like the feel of cars in bygone eras can get one through RUF. Old decrepit cars are restored afresh while still maintaining their classic nature.

To understand the degree of RUF’s influence, while Porsche was in an exclusive contract with Electronic Arts (EA) to use their models in video games, some other video gaming companies used RUF models due to their similarities, until the contract expired.

RUF is the most widely recognized company for making finer enhancements to Porsche models and tuning their performance. But even more, it’s an independent car manufacturer registered and approved by the German government.
