Car Brands Ranked From Best To Worst

The American Consumer Satisfaction Index analyzes people’s satisfaction with tons of different services and products, including cars. The ACSI measures satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 100. For cars, it analyzes consumer’s opinions on a variety of important things like safety, style, dependability, performance, gas mileage, and more. Some brands obviously score better than others. Here are the best and worst rated car brands based on consumer satisfaction.

Lexus (Toyota)

Lexus is one of the most trusted car brands, and the ACSI always ranks it in the top five. Its current score is 85.

Volvo

Tied for first place, Volvo also has a score of 85. The company’s sales have also increased by at least 27.6 percent in the last year. This was the biggest sales increase out of all the car brands surveyed.

Subaru

Subaru’s sales are also up by nearly 5 percent. It’s currently tied for second place with Lincoln (Ford) with an ACSI score of 84.

Lincoln (Ford)

Although the brand’s sales decreased by about 10 percent, it still ties for second place and has seen increases in customer satisfaction.

Audi (Volkswagen)

This luxury brand ties for third place with Honda at 83 points. This is quite an improvement from the brand’s ranking in previous years.

Honda

Honda is also up a few points from previous years. The brand’s overall sales have decreased this year, but its SUV sales have gone up.

Toyota

Previously at the top of the list, Toyota has dropped to third place this year with a score of 83.

BMW

BMW comes in fourth with a score of 82. The company has also seen a 2.5 percent increase in sales.

Cadillac (GM)

Tied with BMW, Cadillac has the highest score of any GM brand surveyed. Sales for the brand have increased by a solid 5.4 percent this year as well.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes hasn’t had the best year. Its sales have dropped by 13.4 percent and customer satisfaction decreased slightly to 82 percent, placing it in a tie with BMW and Cadillac.

Volkswagen

Also tied with Mercedes, Cadillac, and BMW, Volkswagen scored an 82 this year. After facing scandal in 2016, the brand has made significant improvements and seen increases in sales and consumer satisfaction in the last year.

Acura

Acura’s score of 81 falls just slightly below the industry average, but it is an increase over last year’s score.

Buick (GM)

Tied with several other car brands, Buick comes in with a score of 80.

GMC (GM)

Another GM brand, GMC’s customer satisfaction has dropped 5 percent this year.

Hyundai

This brand’s score has also fallen. It dropped to 80 from 83.

Jeep (Fiat Chrysler)

Sales for Jeep have jumped by 21 percent in the last year. It has also held steady with its consumer satisfaction rating at 80 percent.

Mazda

On the plus side, Mazda’s sales are up 11.5 percent. On the downside, its satisfaction score has dropped from 82 to 80.

Mini (BMW)

Mini’s score also dropped from 82 to 80.

Nissan

Nissan’s sales have dropped quite a bit in recent years. Its score is currently 80.

RAM (Fiat Chrysler)

RAM earned an average score of 80 this year.

Chevrolet (GM)

Toward the bottom of the list, Chevrolet’s score comes in at 79.

Kia

Kia’s customer satisfaction is down four points with its overall score coming in tied with Chevrolet and Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi

Increasing slightly from last year, Mitsubishi also scores a 79.

Fiat

Fiat’s sales have dropped a staggering 43.7 percent this year, so it isn’t surprising that the brand doesn’t rank well with a score of 78.

Infiniti

Infiniti’s first year in the survey earned it a score of just 78.

Dodge

An improvement over last year, Dodge comes in with a score of 77 this year.

Ford

Tied with Dodge, Ford earned a 77 this year as well.

Chrysler

Chrysler comes in last for customer satisfaction with a score of 74.
