The Brazilian Ayrton Senna was quickly becoming one of the greatest racing drivers of all time when he lost his life in a tragic accident at the age of 34. A crash during the San Marino GP in 1994 was fatal. He has been active in Formula 1 for a total of ten years, and that was a very successful period for motorsport. Senna could have obtained many titles before he would retire. Yet his death was not for nothing. He was one of the most influential drivers of Formula 1 ever and has participated in countless innovations.

Everything was fine during his childhood

Senna grew up in a wealthy family. His father single-handedly built his first kart, which was powered by the motor of a lawnmower. In that kart, he discovered his love for motorsport. At the age of 13, he already participated in a competition. His father recognized the talent of his son. He supported Ayrton until he was old enough to compete with some particularly tough competitors. Nevertheless, Ayrton himself was initially unsure that he wanted to continue in motorsport.

Formula 1

The talented Senna put down a series of big wins in the karts, and he won a series of single-seat tournaments. There was a lot of interest in him. Everyone wanted him on the team. When he was finally convinced of his own abilities, he tested in 1983 for four different teams in Formula 1. He made his debut in the 1984 Grand Prix in Brazil. But that was not the start he dreamed of, because he was sent home after that race.

Victory series

But Senna did not give up and persevered. In the end, he became very successful. He became world champion for the first time in Formula 1 with Lotus-Renault in 1988. In the following years, he remained successful. The success was crowned in the 1990s and 1991 with two more world titles. After some lesser years, he moved to the Williams team in 1994. There he was on his way to his fourth world title until he crashed head-on against a wall during the San Marino Grand Prix and died of the consequences of that accident. Despite this, fans are still enthusiastic about his performance to this day.
